In standard 13-card Indian rummy, each player is dealt 13 cards from two 52-card decks with printed jokers. The main objective is to group your cards into valid sequences and sets before making a declaration.
- Pure Sequence (Required): Three or more cards in unbroken numerical order belonging to the exact same suit without any joker substitute (for example, 5♠ - 6♠ - 7♠). You must have at least one pure sequence to win.
- Second Sequence (Required): Another run of three or more cards in order. This sequence can be pure or impure (using wild jokers or printed jokers to fill missing ranks, such as 9♦ - Joker - J♦).
- Sets & Extra Runs: The remaining cards must form either more sequences or sets. A set consists of three or four cards of the exact same number in different suits (such as 8♣ - 8♦ - 8♠).
What are the penalty points for dropping early?
If you get dealt a bad hand and fold right away without drawing a card, you get a First Drop penalty of 20 points. If you drop during later rounds, it counts as a Middle Drop and gives 40 points. A wrong show or unmatched cards in a loss result in an 80-point maximum penalty.
